Morega to Demonstrate Innovative Multi-Platform Premium Content Portability Product at The NCTA Cable Show 2009

Morega’s media portability solution will be showcased in Cisco’s booth #4137 and in the Broadband Nation exhibit.

Washington, D.C. — The Cable Show — April 1, 2009
Morega’s digital home premium content portability and streaming solution, The Qew, will be on exhibit at The NCTA Cable Show 2009 held in Washington, D.C. from April 1st to April 3rd in Cisco’s booth #4137.

Morega’s product, The Qew, is a combination of hardware (QewStation) and client software applications (QewPlayers) that together enable in-home premium and non-premium content to be discovered, reformatted and transferred or streamed to different platforms such as PCs, mobile phones and personal media players thus enabling true multi-platform content portability.

Product demonstrations will show the QewStation automatically discovering content from in-home Cisco media devices such as set-top boxes and DLNA gateways, transferring both traditional QAM and Internet video streams, and reformatting that content for side-loading to SD Cards or streaming to mobile phones and PCs.

“Multimedia consumption across different platforms is becoming ubiquitous. Consumers are increasingly demanding more control over their own content as well as premium content and desire to consume it on any device, when they want and where they want.”, said Philip Poulidis, Morega’s President and CEO. “Cisco is a leader in digital home technologies and is helping to extend video delivery beyond the traditional set-top box to multiple screens.”

Feng Chi Wang, Morega’s VP of Technology adds, “The market for premium content portability is maturing and rapidly converging on standards such as DLNA and DTCP. Morega is proud to be working with companies like Cisco to accelerate this evolutionary process.”

Qew product demonstrations, in the Cisco booth and the Broadband Nation exhibit, will show how traditional premium content delivered to consumers over a Cable Operator’s network, can now be reformatted, protected and re-distributed to multiple platforms.

Cable operators have the choice of preserving broadcast advertisements in the reformatted video, thus extending their reach and penetration; or deploying an optional Morega ad-insertion server that dynamically refreshes existing advertisements with new content that targets specific client platforms.
